Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. - Episode 19 Review

The Cellist is finally revealed...
As we're nearing the end of Season 1 (or Series 1 as we call it in the UK, but this is a US show so whatever) of Agents of SHIELD, I can look back at the mistakes made and where the series could have improved. However, this series suffers from one problem overall: structure. The way the plot goes along feels like it's being made up as each episode comes. HYDRA appears only because they did in The Winter Soldier, the Clairvoyant is revealed as a character not heard of before Episode 14 and there aren't any hints as such to any of the plot threads. We just learn details, the reveal happens and it makes logical sense.
This episode continues the 'filler' episode from last week...and what the hell happened here? It simply doesn't work. Just over half-way through, Skye learns that Ward is HYDRA and a Traitor and then continues to do nothing at all for the rest of the episode. She cries a lot and tries to play it cool with Ward but it just drags on a bit.
Agent May leaves the team because Coulson doesn't trust her, and then we're left to three different plot threads in an episode that accomplishes nothing. In a series which seemed to have finally got to a continues multiple-episode storyline, it just grinds to a halt. The only interesting part of this episode was the plot surrounding Audrey.
Audrey is the famous Cellist Coulson loved who has been referenced to multiple times before, but now we actually see her. Audrey's played by Amy Acker, and considering what a brilliant actress she is wasted in this role.
It wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't that the story was compelling and amazingly played out. However, it just doesn't work with the other two plot threads. It's like three episodes worth of plot in one. So, what was the point of all the useless episodes that didn't nothing at all for the plot? There wasn't.
Overall, this episode could have been spread out over multiple ones. As we are nearing the end of Season 1, I'm doubting a return from Audrey, which is sadly a waste of such a brilliant actress and character, so why they couldn't have put her in the next season I don't know. It might have gone somewhere. 7/10

The Mission: Impossible franchise has experienced a mixed reception across its four prior installments, with the most popular being 2011's Ghost Protocol. I'm not entirely with the series, only that its pretty much Tom Cruise and co pulling off dangerous missions with some cool action and a catchy theme music, although I did end up watching Ghost Protocol one random night. Doctor Who: The Power of the Doctor (2022) - Review

And with that, the Thirteenth Doctor's era has come to a close. It's easy for regeneration stories to be overshadowed by the programme's future - understandable given the show's constant change and renewal - but suffice it to say that The Power of the Doctor makes for a fitting conclusion to this era of the programme. Kicking things off with a heist on a space train, we're reintroduced to the Cybermasters, returning from The Timeless Children back in Series 12. It's good to see them return, even if their ultimate roles in the narrative serve mainly as cannon fodder more than anything else. Their Cyber-converted planet, which I'd speculated to Gallifrey, was a nice idea even if it served as a backdrop to the events unfolding rather than playing a significant role. Quite why Ashad and his Cyber Warriors were brought back, other than fan popularity, I'm not sure. An off-hand comment about the Master cloning Ashad doesn't quite resolve the character'

The phrase "I'm shook" springs to mind. Ten years after Marvel Studios released their first independent motion picture ' Iron Man ', the studio brings together (almost) all of their superhero characters into one enormous event film - ' Avengers: Infinity War '. Bursting at the seams with characters, ongoing arcs and a narrative sprawling across space, can the team behind ' Captain America: The Winter Soldier ' and ' Captain America: Civil War ' pull it off?
