Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. - Season 3, Episode 11 Review

While the mid-season finale seemed to almost end the series entirely, "Bouncing Back" kick-starts the second half of Agents of SHIELD's third season with a big bang. It feels like a brand-new season, even though there's been no mid-season break in the UK broadcast, and I certainly felt a lot more confident in this opener than I did in Episode 1.
"Bouncing Back" followed the agents investigating a woman who can move at super-speed, who has been destroying police weapons. As Mack deepens the investigating however, he finds that the woman - called Elena - was in fact trying to prevent the corrupt local police from gaining and using the weapons. The police have an Inhuman assistant, however, who proves to be a problem for the Agents when Hunter and Morse are kidnapped. This leads Daisy and her mini Inhuman squad (known as 'Secret Warriors' apparently) to rescue the agents and stop the police.
This is actually a really good standalone plot, building on everything established before whilst also being a very good standalone episode. If someone who had never seen the show turned over to E4 and saw this, I think they'd be pretty intrigued to see more from Agents of SHIELD. This is the kind of episode that just works for me, and I really enjoyed it.
Another element I liked was Coulson's phone confrontation with Malick. Seeing the two face off just verbally was a treat to see, showcasing how great Clark Gregg and Powers Boothe are in their respective roles. Its great to see the agents actually going after Hydra as opposed to just milling about until the season finale.
Then we have alien-Ward hybrid...who I have nothing to say about.
Overall, "Bouncing Back" was a pretty cracking episode of SHIELD with a strong plot, good cast and just working as an overall great piece of entertainment. While not brilliant, I thoroughly enjoyed this episode as another strong entry in this season. 8/10

Oh, and President Ellis' (see Iron Man 3) cameo was a great addition.
