Doctor Who: Series 9 (2015) - TRAILER REACTION

After...that BBC America Doctor Who series 9 trailer, the BBC unveiled our first official glimpse of the new season of the long-running Sci-Fi show at San Diego Comic Con for the Doctor Who panel with Peter Capaldi, Jenna Coleman, Michelle Gomez and Steven Moffat, and it looks fantastic!
I should probably start off with the negatives. While the production team have finally turned the lights down, the whole series looks very under-saturated in terms of the colour palette, even if it doesn't look nearly as grim as the most recent Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell, or even Warner Bros current DC Comics movies. Each episode seems to have a distinguished colour palette akin to previous seasons though, and the picture quality looks stunning in HD. I'm also disappointed to see a fleeting glimpse of the Daleks...doing nothing. Sure, bring back the Daleks, but give them something to do! Make them look scary in the trailer at least! I'm also not keen on a couple of shots taking up too much time in a trailer filled with brief glimpses, such as the shot of The Doctor turning to face the camera, which looked a bit staged and fourth wall-breaking.
Otherwise though, I love the darker and more dangerous feel to this trailer. The jokes are still present it seems (Capaldi on a guitar should be fun), although it does look very scary and certainly not nearly as fluffy as previous seasons have been. The new monsters look terrific, if a little dull, and the wonderful synth music is fantastic.
As for The Doctor's big trailer speech...I had visions of Capaldi running after something dangerous begging to kiss it to death. Maybe that's my imagination.
So, the trailer was fantastic, revealing very little but teasing us a lot (and Michelle Gomez looked relatively sane and possibly even Master-like!), and the end title revealed the seasons' release date as the 19th September. Just over two months to go then.
Oh well, nothing else to report except for...
Maisie Williams popped up at the end. What a stupidly-placed add-on. Doing a mystery box clip at the end of a trailer just shows that the BBC need something to get the audience hyped, akin to the "who is Missy" hashtag from last season. Did I mention that I'm fed up with Moffat's mysterious female characters? No? Maybe I should mention it more often.
Doctor Who series 9 begins with The Magician's Apprentice on the Saturday 19th September 2015 on BBC One in the UK and BBC America in the US.
