Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) - SDCC TRAILER #2 REACTION

With Batman v Superman less than a year away and DC's billion dollar marketing campaign for their shared universe of films needing to be spent, San Diego Comic Con yesterday got a second trailer for Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad, the former of which has been released online in all its glory...all its 3 and 1/2 minutes of glory.
Bloomin' heck! Talk about a long trailer! I worry that too much is being revealed too soon in this trailer. Sure, it was great to see Wonder Woman in action, but she was given no set-up or context in the trailer, so she almost didn't seem worthwhile including. That said, the studio will want to sell the character as early as possible to introduce her 2017 solo movie, and I'm sure many were happy to see her in action.
I did feel far too much could have been cut from this trailer to make it a bit slicker, but I also understand that not too much seemed to be spoiled. Its interesting to see General Zod's dead body being left in the middle of Metropolis wasn't just...left there, and that the whole Metropolis destruction actually proves to be the major crux of the story.
I love the idea of Superman having to face the consequences of his actions, despite his best intentions. Perhaps the whole concept of him being responsible for so much death was to give the character an arc leading him to become the best and most goody-two-shoes superhero ever. While the themes of this film seem to be plastered all in graffiti - "False God",  "Superman = illegal alien" and "you let your family die" are hardly subtle - I understand that A) graffiti artists aren't going to be writing like Shakespeare and B) the film actually is including these themes as the whole idea behind the story, and thus needs an audience to understand them.
I can also see lots of improvements over Man of Steel in this film - the colour palette is much more varied, and Superman's costume actually looks red and blue as opposed to just blue, and the contrasting colours of Batman's world and Superman's are really well highlighted. The cinematography seems to be improved, and visually the whole thing looks stunning.
Ben Affleck looks to be a brilliant Batman, and I cannot wait to see what he does with the role. He could well become the most iconic incarnation of the Dark Knight yet with his costume taken straight out of the comics and cartoon series'.
Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor...is Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, so nothing new to see there, and I have nothing to see about Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman - I'm not very familiar with the character or actress, so hopefully she'll turn out good in the role. I still feel that Jeremy Irons is the wrong casting choice for Alfred, and in this trailer he doesn't even look the part, so he proves to be my major criticism with the Batman side of things.
I'm very optimistic about Batman v Superman though - this trailer is showing our three lead heroes and no more, which is all I wanted to see - and the film could be really good. I liked Man of Steel but I feel that we need two great DC Movies next year to kick off a shared Universe just right, and while I have little to say about Suicide Squad's leaked trailer (seriously, just release it WB), it does look way too serious for my liking. That sort of film should be a bit more fun, but oh well.
Maybe there will be some humour.
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is released on March 26th 2016, and Suicide Squad in August 2016.
