Supergirl - TRAILER REACTION

Supergirl is a character I've never really understood. I always thought the whole concept behind her was pretty bland and it makes sense that the trailer for her own TV Series should look pretty bland too. Supergirl is about Kara Zor-El, Kal-El's cousin, who, 12 years ago when her home world of Krypton was destroyed, was sent by her parents to Earth, where Kal-El was sent. 12 years later, she finds herself trying to remain normal as incredibly difficult, with her cousin Kal now a hero named Superman who has been essentially showing off his powers and saving lives. This convinces her to join him as her own superhero, and calling herself Supergirl, Kara decides to follow in her cousin's footsteps.
First problem: who thought of this? Who thought this didn't sound like a pretty knaff idea? Sure, maybe if Supergirl was Superman's daughter, I could see this working, but Superman's cousin, who just so happened to be the only other person to be sent away from Krypton to Earth? It just all sounds a bit too contrived and unoriginal. Oh, and Kara's narration of this segment of the trailer is pretty badly written as well - "you may know my cousin's story, but you may not know mine" because my story is pretty much the same only I got inspired by my male cousin to become a hero because...yeah.
Maybe if Supergirl was made whereby Superman didn't exist, I could see it working, but with Superman existing and various references to him just basically makes us want to see an actual Superman series! Not his rather boring female cousin!
But yeah, the actual trailer itself makes the show look bright and colourful, incredibly clichéd, dull characters and surprisingly bad CGI. All along to crap pop music, because that's popular nowadays.
Oh, and for those who argue that "its a TV show, the CGI is probably going to look rubbish", I have two points to make:
Point 1 - if you know you feasibly can't make a show of this scale, why bother?
Point 2 - The Flash has great CGI for a TV show. The Reverse-Flash vs Flash fight in Barry's house is a perfect example of this. Also, watch some of the most recent Doctor Who episodes - they have some excellent CGI work, particularly The Rings of Akhaten and Flatline.
But yeah, the show looks okay, nothing special and looking at the producers I don't expect anything special. In fact, I don't expect it to last long from the reaction this trailer has gotten. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for a great Supergirl series, or any series with a lead female character or superhero, but this is not it - and that's a real shame.
Supergirl will start this Autumn on CBS in the USA, with a channel and release date still TBC for the UK and other countries.

Just as a quick side-note, DC's Legends of Tomorrow sounds good from the synopsis and looks great poster-wise!
