Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. - Episode 17 Review

So much for Agents of SHIELD
Agents of SHIELD has needed to pick-up a little for me recently. Last episode showed signs that the series was heading in a new direction needed, and this episode finally gave us the game-changing twist we needed (although none of the main characters have been killed yet).
SHIELD is now revealed to be in fact HYDRA, and this episode is a case of 'who do you trust?' Sadly, out of the many characters that could have been HYDRA, it was John Garrett. Damn it, I liked that guy! If there is one problem with this, its that the 'shock twist' that Ward is in fact HYDRA was a little too predictable to me; it makes a million times more sense than Garrett after all. Ward is a character that I'm still not a fan of. There are times when he will do something cool, but has nothing to him to make him likeable. He's more of the team's 'I hope he's the traitor 'cause I'm not rooting for him' than the total awesomeness that was Garrett. Garrett had such a charm to him and came across as a fully-rounded and unique character, so his deceit was a lot less predictable compared to Ward's. I'm hoping Ward isn't a double-agent, as that has been done far too many times before, and an actual traitor in the team would be nice. May and Skye have all ready proved this series that they're not the evil traitors, so in theory Ward is the only other who could be.
This episode felt a little too short; an extra five minutes with some more story elements from Captain America: The Winter Soldier would have been gratefully accepted, and the simple line of "Captain America's defeated HYDRA at the Triskellion" came across as a cheap tie-in. If Coulson and Hand were actually there at the Triskellion at the end it would have been much better. After all, the team have already been there earlier in the series.
However, otherwise it was an incredibly enjoyable episode, and managed to cope with the scale it needed considering it's 45 minute running time. If there is one thing I would have liked is an extra episode that cleared everything up, but hopefully next episode will tie everything else up. I'm just wondering what Quinn and Raini think of all this; if Garrett is supposedly the Clairvoyant. 9/10
